Another Iron in the fire

1976 KE175

YAH YAH YAH... Iknow... ANOTHER project! And I haven't even come close to finishing the first one I started yet! There is a theory behind the madness. This is a 1976 KE175. My plans are to turn it into a vintage style tracker. It should be a fun little bike to run around town on. I started this project as a lower budget build I can finish in a relatively short time. The '71 XLCH is very quickly becoming a creative and financial long term project. This fun little toy will give Shane and I something to work that will allow us to show and enjoy  the fruits of our labor in a much more timely manner. Meanwhile, bits and pieces of the other projects will slowly but sure keep get put through the finishing mill as finances allow.

It's been awhile since the shop's been up and going. I finally straightened out the pig pen with Shane's help and and made some up grades. It's feels good to get started on a project again. So far I've finished stripping the chassis, and have the front end hanging from the rafters for later. I've put the new sand blast cabinet to use and thanks to some basic sheet metal tools I'm trying my hand at fabrication. First on the docket is to repair the dented and rusty fuel tank. I chased the holes with my welder for a while, but between the coating in the tank and the thin spots it wasn't working out to hot. So what did I do.....? I broke out the cutting wheel and dissected the tank. I figured they do it on TV all the time... how hard can it be? While I admit I won't be jumping in and fabricating custom car panels any time soon, I think the fuel tank is turning out halfway decent. It's going to be a fun learning project.
